Undergraduate statistics classes should not be offered until the student’s senior year. Math majors will need the preceding years in which to gain the necessary math background (Eric Lehmann and Elizabeth Scott, personal communication). Majors in other specialties need the time in which to gain maturity in their field and to understand the nature of the data they will be working with.
